"Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” ~Mark Twain
Do you see an islnd grl staring back at you when you look in the mirror? We all have an inner islnd grl or person if you prefer, the concept is the same. She/they is/are you, before life got its hands on you and did things to your perception of self. Once, confident, bubbly, ready to take on the world. Bothered by very little, your inner islnd person has a care-free air and joie de vie! Most notably, they seem quite comfortable in their own skin and determined to do what suits them. Is it because they are young, thin, unblemished and wrinkle-free? You might like to think so, but surely you know better. They dislike their thighs just as much as you do and they often wish to be taller/shorter, with longer/shorter, or curly/straight hair. As impractical as it may seem to look to your former self for guidance, what if they actually had it right all along? Perhaps this is your opportunity to become the 2.0 version of you!
In the central place of every heart there is a recording chamber. So long as it receives a message of beauty, hope, cheer, and courage – so long are you young. When the wires are all down and our heart is covered with the snow of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then, and only then, are you grown old.” ~Douglas MacArthur
What if you could channel your former self in a way that your present self could tolerate? Best of both worlds perhaps? If you think about it, you are the best version of that person right now. You have experience, resources, a developed sense of self, and the list goes on. If only you could help your mind, that inner voice to recognise the true beauty of you. What if your mindset is the real fountain of youth?
